Don't write us off yet

Onuoha still thinks City can finish in top six

I have been reading and hearing a lot recently about Manchester City's demise this season and how we had blown what was a good season.

But to be honest, I don't see it and I think for people to write us off already is premature to say the least.

We cannot deny that we have had a patchy run, we know that. Players are not blind to the fact that they or the team might be struggling, unlike what some may think.

But from our own point of view, we are just four points off sixth place in the league, we still think and know that we are still very much in the hunt for a European place.

Of course it is not going to be easy and after our last display at Birmingham a big improvement is needed. To be honest, it was the most unhappy I have seen the boss since he came to the club and that summed up how bad we were.

I am not going to go into detail but he made it quite clear that what happened at St Andrews was not good enough and with just six games left we do not want to let this excellent opportunity to pass us by.

One of our only wins in recent weeks came against Tottenham when I managed to finally break my duck and get on the scoresheet.

I would like to score more, but I don't always get a chance at City so hopefully I will be sent up a bit more.

It was a great moment for myself and something I will always remember, it came at our main end and was also near the corner where my family sit, so I was immediately able to go and celebrate, which was special.

Munich

Another special moment recently was the Manchester derby back in February, which was special for more than one reason. The whole day was more about Munich than the football, well that is how I felt and thought it was a fitting tribute.

The day was quite surreal with the fact we were both in kits without sponsors and then the minute's silence, which in the stadium was unbelievable and it was an occasion which we will all remember.

The game finished with us winning, which again made for a memorable day, a City win at Old Trafford has been something of a rarity in recent years and we were very happy to put that right.

On a personal note, I have been enjoying my spell in the team, but in central defence rather than right-back where many of you will know me best.

Some people say that I must be delighted to be playing in central defence, but to be honest I do not got too hung-up on the situation.

Of course I enjoy played in the middle, as I do for the England Under-21s but I am not opposed in any way to playing at full-back, which I also enjoy.

I think as a modern footballer you need to be flexible and be able to adapt and play wherever you are asked to do so.

I would look at somebody like Wes Brown, he has played the season at right-back and centre-back - but he doesn't come out and say anything, he gets on with it and it has not affected his international ambitions either.
