Chelsea warmed up for this weekend's Community Shield with a 2-0 win over Brondby in their final pre-season friendly.

Didier Drogba inspired Jose Mourinho's men to the morale-boosting victory with both goals.

The Ivory Coast international opened the scoring just past the hour mark when he rose highest to head home Glen Johnson's cross.

Chelsea added a second goal six minutes from time when Drogba worked a neat one-two with Claudio Pizarro before drilling the ball home.

The only worrying note for Chelsea was the sight of John Obi Mikel limping out of the game leaving him doubtful for Sunday's curtain raiser with Manchester United.

Derby beat rivals Nottingham Forest 2-0 in the Brian Clough Trophy at Pride Park.

The Premier League newcomers took the honours in the inaugural match played in memory of the Clough, who enjoyed success as manager of both clubs.

Derby broke the deadlock after just seven minutes with Jay McEveley finding the net from 25 yards.

The home side made it 2-0 eight minutes later when McEveley turned creator by sending Fagan clear on goal who coolly slotted home.

Anderson de Silva's late goal salavaged a 2-2 draw with Werder Bremen at Goodison Park.

Boubacar Sanogo gave Bremen the lead on 54 minutes, but James McFadden came off the bench to draw Everton level 20 minutes later.

German international Per Mertesacker restored Bremen's lead five minutes from time, but da Silva popped up two minutes from time to net his first goal for Everton and earn David Moyes's side a share of the spoils.

West Ham continued their preparations for the new season with a 2-1 win at Norwich.

Jonathan Spector gave West Ham the lead when he drilled home after a good approach play by Luis Boa Morte and Bobby Zamora

Dean Ashton doubled the lead just before the break when he scored from close-range against his old club after David Marshall pushed out Boa Morte's shot.

Chris Brown reduced the arrears for Norwich in the second half, but West Ham held on to secure the win.

Michael Brown made his debut for Wigan as the Latics beat Barnsley 2-0 at Oakwell.

Jason Koumas set Wigan on their way with the opener on 55 minutes and Denny Landzaat wrapped up the win with the second goal from the penalty spot 11 minutes from time.

Tresor Lomana Lua Lua inspired Portsmouth to a 4-1 win at Bournemouth with a superb hat-trick.

Niko Kranjcar opened the scoring for Pompey on 49 minutes with a deflected effort and Lua Lua doubled the lead on 63 minutes.

Lua Lua added a third on 77 minutes and he then went on to complete his treble.

Bournemouth grabbed a late consolation when Brett Pitman scored from the penalty spot .

Birmingham ran out 3-0 win over Peterborough at London Road.

Three goals in a devastating ten-minute gave the Premier League new boys a comfortable win.

Olivier Kapo got the ball rolling with the opening goal five minutes after the break.

Cameron John headed home the second before Sebastian Larsson completed the win on 56 minutes with a good finish.

A youthful Middlesbrough side beat Carlisle 2-0 at Brunton Park.
