Gareth Southgate insists there is 'no way' Julio Arca will leave Middlesbrough.

The midfielder has been linked with a return to Sunderland, who he quit for Boro in a £1.75million deal 12 months ago.

Sunderland are in the market for midfield reinforcements after losing captain Dean Whitehead for six months due to a knee injury.

But Boro boss Southgate is adamant Arca will not be sold, particularly for the sums that have been quoted.

"It wasn't strange Sunderland were linked," said Southgate in the Daily Mirror.

"But there is no way he will leave, he is one of our most important players.

"£2m was mentioned, but it would take about five times that now."
