Terry: Missed training

John Terry has missed training ahead of England's Euro 2008 qualifiers with Israel and Russia.

The England skipper sat out Tuesday's session due to illness but is expected to resume training on Wednesday and be fit for Saturday's Wembley showdown.

Chelsea's Frank Lampard and Liverpool's Steve Gerrard also played no part in the training session at Arsenal's Colney training complex.

Hopeful

Lampard has returned to Chelsea for treatment on a thigh muscle injury but boss Steve McClaren is hopeful Gerrard (toe) will be fit to start.

The Liverpool skipper has played only once since breaking his toe against Toulouse three weeks ago, but has assured McClaren he will be fit to face Israel.

Manchester United's Owen Hargreaves was restricted to gym work as he continues his battle against a tendonitis problem in his knee.
