Ramage: Laid low

Newcastle defender Peter Ramage is resigned to missing the rest of the season through injury.

Ramage tore his cruciate knee ligament during last month's 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough.

The young full-back is expected to be sidelined for up to six months with the problem and he admits he is unlikely to feature again this season.

Wrong

"I knew something was wrong straight away when my knee buckled," Ramage told the Newcastle Evening Chronicle.

"I felt my shin go one way and my thigh go the other.

"It was pretty painful. I've never done anything to my knee before, so I didn't know what I had done.

"It wasn't until I went for a scan that I knew the extent of the injury.

"They didn't let me put any weight on my knee until then.

"I went down for the consultation, and came back with a new knee.

"I'm going to miss the majority, if not the whole of the season, and I've prepared myself for that."
