Hughes: Back in training

Fulham new boy Aaron Hughes is back in training as he steps up his bid to return to action.

The summer signing from Aston Villa has endured a frustrating start to his Fulham career after picking up an ankle injury in pre-season.

The Northern Ireland international is remaining cautious over his return and is refusing to take a risk with his fitness.

Comeback

"Thursday was my second day of training and it's quite early on, but I feel pretty comfortable and hopefully I'll progress well," Hughes told the club's official website.

"I've never set a comeback date, it's been one day at a time. If all goes to plan I'd like to say I'll be fit for Wigan, but I don't want to tempt fate.

"It's been frustrating but I can't complain too much because I know there are guys that have been out for longer than me and I'm sure they're more frustrated than I am.

"I think the fact that I'd just joined a new club and was keen to get off to a good start and do well and then get injured, that's part of football and you have to deal with it."
