Sheridan: Slow start
Managing director Simon Corney has conceded that he has been left disappointed by Oldham's failure to live up to expectations this season.
Having been backed in the transfer market this summer, John Sheridan's charges were expected to kick-on from last term's campaign, which concluded with them being beaten in the play-offs.
However, on the contrary, Oldham have struggled to find any kind of form as they currently find themselves towards the foot of the League One table.
Corney has made no secret of his disappointment after admitting that there is no money left in the kitty for new signings.
"Expectations have been higher then ever at the start of this season, but as yet it hasn't really happened for us on the pitch," he told the club's official website.
"The win at Accrington in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy last week could prove to be crucial.
"Every club at out level needs the money. Obviously we run at a loss every season and we need to recoup the money from somewhere.
"The pot for new signings is dry now, so we'll just have to get on as best we can."
Sheridan has, though, been given a timely boost with the news Neil Kilkenny could be back playing before the end of the month.
It was anticipated that a thigh injury would curtail his involvement until mid-October but the talented schemer is some way ahead of his rehabilitation schedule.
