Lafferty: Targeting qualification

Kyle Lafferty has described Northern Ireland's 1-1 draw with Sweden as 'the best' game of his career.

The striker scored Ireland's equaliser against Sweden in Wednesday's Euro 2008 qualifier in Stockholm.

Ireland slumped to qualifying defeats against Latvia and Iceland in September, which appeared to dent any hopes of appearing in Austria and Switzerland next summer.

However, Lafferty's equaliser keeps Ireland's hopes of progressing alive and he is now targeting the two wins his side need, against Denmark and Spain, to earn qualification.

"That was the best game of my career. It was a great night for me personally but I do not want to take anything away from the team," said Lafferty.

"Our hopes were dented against Latvia and Iceland but now we have a real chance of qualifying."
