Isaksson: Promised chance

Manchester City's Andreas Isaksson says Sven Goran Eriksson 'promised' him that he would play this season.

The Sweden international has featured just once so far this campaign, in the Carling Cup against Bolton Wanderers.

Isaksson's chances at City have been restricted following the rise of youngsters Joe Hart and Kasper Schmeichel.

Hart has been particularly impressive of late, putting in a man of the match performance against Portsmouth last weekend.

Explanation

And Isaksson admits he is concerned about the lack of first-team action that is coming his way, while bemoaning his recent injury troubles.

"Sven has promised that I will play," he told Expressen.

"But he hasn't given me an explanation why he hasn't given me a chance earlier.

"I got the injury at a very inconvenient time; it was like last year all over again.

"Of course it's tough. Now we have to wait and see what happens in the coming games."
