Bouma: Happy at Villa

Martin O'Neill is planning to hold talks with Wilfred Bouma regarding a new contract at Aston Villa.

Bouma's present deal expires at the end of the season and the club have a one-year option which must be taken up by the end of April.

The Dutchman has started all 16 Premier League games this term after establishing himself as Villa's first-choice left-back.

He recently admitted to being 'very happy' in the Midlands and Villa boss O'Neill is now ready to resolve the former PSV Eindhoven stopper's future.

"Wilfred is another player who needs to know about his future and we'll talk to every single one of the boys," O'Neill told the Birmingham Mail.

"I can only judge by what I've seen since I've been here, but he's played a lot of games.

"I don't know what it was like for him beforehand, I think he had a few injury problems.

"Now he says himself he's over those and enjoying it, and the good news for Freddie is he's had a fairly lengthy run in the side and so far those niggling injuries that affected him before have left him alone."
