Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz has warned his side of the danger of Liverpool forward Fernando Torres.

United travel to Anfield to take on the Reds as part of Grand Slam Sunday, which can be seen live on Sky Sports 1.

And ahead of the crucial Premier League clash Queiroz has admitted he fears the threat posed by Torres who has made an excellent start to his career with Liverpool.

The Spaniard joined Liverpool in the summer for a club record fee from Atletico Madrid and has scored 12 goals since that time and Queiroz is well aware of the striker's threat.

"Torres is like an eagle," said Queiroz. "He can see spaces that others can't see and he has the ability to penetrate these areas with or without the ball.

"Torres is doing really well and I am impressed with him.

"He is already going some way to making the difference for Liverpool this season. I think he's a good finisher and he's a player who gives Liverpool something completely different.

"Certainly we will have to be careful of him because he is dangerous. We are always confident in what we can do and we will not worry too much. But we do recognise his quality.

Strong

"I have been in England for five years and I have never seen a Liverpool side looking so strong in the league at this point of the season."

Meanwhile, Queiroz has given his backing to Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez.

The Reds boss has endured a difficult month in which his relationship with the club's American owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks has been questioned, but Queiroz is in no doubt about Benitez's qualities

"After everything Rafa has done for Liverpool he doesn't deserve to be under this kind of pressure," added Queiroz.

"I've known him for a long time and he is a great coach and a great man."
