Manchester City striker Darius Vassell has stated he is happy with the Eastlands club and has no plans to leave.

The former Aston Villa man has slipped down Sven Goran Eriksson's pecking order this season, although he is happy to fight for his place.

Despite being linked with moves away from City, his first priority is to stay and continue to improve his game under the former England boss.

"There is competition for places here, and everyone is fighting for their place," he stated. "That's the way it should be.

"I love it at City and want to do well here. That has always been my objective.

"This is where I want to be, because it is where I will become a better player."

Confidence

Meanwhile, Eriksson believes Italian striker Rolando Bianchi will be boosted by his goal at Tottenham last weekend.

The goal was Bianchi's first in the Premier League since his early strike in City's opening day victory at West Ham.

The expensive hit-man has been linked with a January move away from Eastlands, but Eriksson is not expecting the Italian to leave.

"It was a very good goal and that will help his confidence," stated Eriksson. "I think he is happy here. He is training hard and there has been no indication he wants to leave in January.

"When you come from another country it is more difficult for a striker than a midfielder because the pace in England is very high."
