kapo: Birmingham stay
Olivier Kapo insists he does not want to leave Birmingham, despite speculation he is set to sign for another Premier League club.
The attacking midfielder is the Blues' joint top scorer, after netting five goals this season, and this has not gone unnoticed by a number of other top flight clubs.
Former Birmingham manager Steve Bruce - now at Wigan - is reportedly eyeing a move for Kapo, while Sunderland and Portsmouth are also rumoured to be interested in the Frenchman.
But Kapo, who joined Birmingham last summer in a £3million move from Juventus, is adamant that he is content with the Blues and that he is set to stay in the Midlands and help manager Alex McLeish avoid Premier League relegation.
"I am confident about our team," Kapo told the Birmingham Mail. "We have a good manager and staff, we have good players.
"I like the city, my family is happy, it's good here. There are no problems. I don't want to move.
"The most important thing for me is that we win games because now, the situation isn't the best.
"It's good for me (the speculation) but I play for Birmingham. I have signed for three years and I like it here."
And McLeish is also keen to see Kapo stay at St Andrew's and claims it would take an 'exceptional bid' to capture the 27-year-old.
"We don't have to let him (Kapo) go and unless it is an exceptional bid, I don't see why we have to let players of his quality leave," McLeish added.
"At the same time I've added to the forwards and it is difficult to keep everyone happy.
"He has got flashes of brilliance and he is looking fit and strong. He is a terrific player when he is in that kind of mood."
