Heskey: Injured

Wigan striker Emile Heskey has been ruled out of the England squad for

Wednesday's friendly against Switzerland due to injury.

Latics manager Steve Bruce confirmed the 30-year-old would not be able to link up with Fabio Capello's party after suffering an unspecified problem during

Saturday's 1-0 victory over West Ham at JJB Stadium.

Heskey was withdrawn after 57 minutes of the Barclays Premier League match and was replaced by Marcus Bent.

"He's got a nerve problem, I think," admitted Bruce

"It's just a continuation of the big fella being out for three or four months because he is getting niggles, pulls and strains all the time."

Capello names his final 23-man squad on Saturday evening and you can keep up to date with news of the squad with skysports.com.
