James Vaughan has admitted he is becoming frustrated by his shortage of goals.

The teenage forward has scored just twice this season but went close to adding to his tally against Reading as his spectacular overhead kick was well saved by Marcus Hahnemann.

Vaughan was impressive as a second half substitute at Goodison Park and he hopes he may have done enough to earn a starting spot for the Uefa Cup clash with SK Brann.

He told Everton's official website: "I'm getting a bit frustrated now. I think it's about time I got a goal, so that's the next thing.

"Obviously everyone wants to play and I saw it as an opportunity to try and get that position for myself so I tried to give 100 per cent for the team."

Of his acrobatic effort, Vaughan added: "I was hoping it was going in, but not much expecting it."

Vaughan is excited about Thursday's clash in Norway and feels it is important for Everton to take control of the tie in the first leg.

He urged: "We just need to go out there and hopefully get a couple of goals and a win - then bring them back here and the fans will do the rest for us.

"The boys are very confident. We've been doing very well so we just need to carry on."
