Anichebe: Keen to progress

Everton's 'super-sub' Victor Anichebe knows there is plenty of hard work ahead of him if he is to eventually become a starter.

The 19-year-old has often been used as a substitute by manager David Moyes this term and all but one of his five goals this season has arrived after appearing off the bench.

Anichebe has acknowledged he is not as effective as a starter, but wants to put in the effort on the training ground in order to promote himself within Moyes' first-team.

"I have still got a lot of work to do to be the finished article and for the gaffer to put me in from the start," he told evertonTV.

Effective

"I see that sometimes, when I get put in from the start I am not as effective as when I am coming on.

"So I still need to work on a lot of things but Europe has been a big boost for me.

"Hopefully I can keep scoring in Europe but the most important thing is that the team does well. I wouldn't say I'm a secret weapon.

"Hopefully I can keep doing it until the end of the competition, hopefully the final. We are not going to get ahead of ourselves but hopefully I can keep doing it."
