Fulham manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed that he has no intention of sending out-of-favour striker David Healy out on loan, for the time being.

Speculation of a spell away from Craven Cottage for the Fulham front man has arisen after Hodgson signed strike trio Erik Nevland, Eddie Johnson and Jari Litmanen in the January transfer window.

Fulham are currently languishing in 19th position, and the former Inter Milan boss revealed that maintaining a strong squad is imperative as the relegation dog-fight unfolds.

"There has been an inquiry for David but I've decided not to let him go at the moment," said Hodgson.

"That could change with circumstances but he is a goalscorer and may still come in useful for us."

Lady luck

Hodgson's decision may also depend on the outcome of his proposed attempt to bring in Gabon striken Daniel Cousin from Rangers.

Fifa have frozen the deal while they consider whether to grant him special dispensation to join a third club in a season.

The Cottagers take on West Ham at Craven Cottage on Saturday, and Hodgson is hoping lady luck will shine over his side in the remaining 12 games of the Premier League campaign.

"We will need a bit of luck as much as anything else," he said.

"We could do with the same sort of luck West Ham had in games towards the end of last season when quite a few of their opponents felt results were unjustified."
