Taylor: Forced to wait
Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan has told Steven Taylor that there will be no contract talks until the club have secured their place in the Premier League.
The Magpies' shocking run of form has seen them slump to within three points of the bottom three.
With relegation now at the forefront of their minds - Keegan says contract talks will not be taking place in the foreseeable future.
"We want to make sure we stay in this division," he is quoted in the Daily Star.
"Only then can we look at those things.
"Of course it is important to the player but right now there are other matters we should be more concerned about."
At the weekend Taylor revealed his discontent at the lack of progress over talks about extending his current contract - which has just 18 months left to run.
The homegrown Geordie stopper has been linked with a summer move away from St James' Park with Liverpool said to be amongst those keeping tabs on the 22-year-old.
