Cesc Fabregas believes Arsenal can go on to complete a UEFA Champions League and Premier League double after knocking out European Cup holders AC Milan.

The Gunners produced a superb display en route to recording a 2-0 second leg victory following the goalless draw at The Emirates.

Their hard work was rewarded in the San Siro when Fabregas, who had earlier hit the crossbar, thundered in a 25-yard effort with just six minutes remaining.

A second from Emmanuel Adebayor sealed a famous win and now the Spaniard sees no reason why they cannot stay on course for both domestic and European success.

"We do not have 25 internationals like Chelsea so we were never going to be able to challenge for all four trophies - but we are still in contention for the two which really matter," he insisted.

"We are top of the Premier League and through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League after beating the holders at home, so why can't we win them both?"

Contenders

Wenger firmly believes his youngsters have what it takes to go all the way to Moscow, but knows it will not be an easy path for the 2006 Champions League finalists.

He said: "The competition is very hard now. It is a cup competition and you have to take it like that.

"We will go for it - we are in the quarter-final, so why should we not believe we can do it."

Fabregas' team-mates were understandably overjoyed with the triumph, and the Spaniard's midfield partner Mathieu Flamini has labelled the result as a 'dream' come true.

Spirit

"The team spirit was good and we were strong. It was fantastic. It is a dream to win this kind of game," he said on Sky Sports News.

Captain William Gallas added: "I am very happy. I think we deserved to qualify. We played very well and I am very proud of my players because they gave everything."

Adebayor - whose goal was his first for Arsenal in the Champions League - and Bacary Sagna have called for immediate focus ahead of Sunday's Premier League trip to Wigan.

"We just want to keep our feet on the ground and keep enjoying ourselves," Adebayor said.

Sagna added: "It is fantastic. We now want to stay focused for the remainder of the Champions League and Premier League."

Deserved

Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti accepted Arsenal deserved their place in the last eight, and are genuine contenders.

He said: "Arsenal are a strong team and played with great courage and have shown they have the qualities to reach the final of the Champions League."

And Clarence Seedorf, who missed the second leg through injury, echoed his manager's thoughts, while tipping The Gunners to claim European glory.

"It was hard not being able to help my teams in the struggle but I think Arsenal deserved to go through," he said.

"We gave everything we had but we were not in our best physical shape. Arsenal are a very good team.

"I hope they will win because it is always better to lose against the team that's wins the competition."
