Everton's Phil Neville insists his team-mates have not given up hope of progressing to the quarter-finals of the Uefa Cup.

The Toffees have it all to do in the second leg of their last 16 tie against Fiorentina after they succumbed to a 2-0 loss at Stadio Artemio Franchi on Thursday.

But Neville is sure that Everton have enough quality to overturn their deficit at Goodison Park on 12th March.

"We don't want this journey to end and will do everything to make sure it doesn't," he said in The Sun.

"We have to say 'right, we have had a good run, this is one bad performance, so let's put it right'."

Yak reminder

Neville went on to draw heart from Middlesbrough's Uefa Cup run in the 2005/2006 campaign, explaining that former Boro striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni has reminded his team-mates that all is not lost.

"Boro got to the final with everyone having written them off," Neville continued.

"Yak reminded us of that straight away."

Meanwhile, manager David Moyes has spoken of James Vaughan's knee injury, ruing the youngster's luck after he suffered a new blow in training - which is likely to rule him out for the rest of the season.

"He is having his cartilage trimmed. It's a real blow to us," Moyes said.
