Heskey: To have scan

Steve Bruce is optimistic that Wigan Athletic striker Emile Heskey did not suffer a serious injury against Arsenal.

Heskey was replaced 10 minutes into the second half of Sunday's 0-0 draw following a challenge with Gunners captain William Gallas.

The England international hurt his foot in the tackle and is due to undergo an X-ray on the injury on Monday.

The experienced forward missed two months earlier in the season with a broken metatarsal and his latest injury is to the same foot.

However, Wigan boss Bruce is hopeful that Heskey has not suffered a recurrence of the problem which sidelined him between September and November.

Hope

"Heskey kicked the bottom of William Gallas' foot and he will go for an X-ray tomorrow," said Bruce.

"It is the same foot he broke, but we don't know the extent of the damage yet.

"We hope it is not too serious. The physio does not seem to think it was the same injury as before as it is further around the foot, but we will make sure tomorrow."
