Bent: Going nowhere

Tottenham striker Darren Bent has vowed to fight for his place at White Hart Lane.

Bent has struggled to establish himself as a regular in the Spurs starting line-up following his big-money move from Charlton last summer.

The England international, who came off the bench to score in Sunday's 4-0 win over West Ham, has started only nine Premier League games this term.

Despite his lack of opportunities, Bent insists he has no plans to leave the North London outfit.

When asked if he expects to be at the club next season, Bent told the London Evening Standard: "Definitely. I have not even been here for a whole season so I shouldn't be thinking about it.

"If I was two or three years down the line and I was still not playing I would have to think about it.

Speculation

"There has been a lot of speculation saying I want to leave, but I know I want to be here. Anyone who knows me will know how frustrated I have been. All I want to do is play games.

"But I need to bide my time. The front two are playing fantastically well at the moment. As a partnership, Berba and Keano have already got 40 goals between them.

"It is always going to be difficult to dislodge them, but I know what I need to do and as long as I am part of a good team like Spurs I am happy. It was nice to get on and score a goal but the most important thing was the result."
