Beckham: Need to get confidence back
David Beckham believes the setup created by Fabio Capello can lead England to the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.
Failure to qualify for Euro 2008 saw previous coach Steve McClaren sacked and the hugely successful Capello appointed as a replacement.
The Italian secured a 2-1 win over Switzerland in his first match last month and has now recalled Beckham to the squad for Wednesday's friendly with France.
Beckham admits confidence in the squad needs to be lifted after the Euro 2008 qualifying flop, but feels Capello is the right man to bring about an improvement.
"I think the combination of the players, and the combination of the manager and his staff, is setting us up right for these qualifying games," said Beckham on Sky Sports News. "It is setting us up right to reach the World Cup.
"We need to get the confidence back of the nation, and the confidence back of the fans - that's probably the biggest thing.
"We know we've got talented players, we know we've got ability and we know we've got a manager that's got vast experience in the game.
"We need to get that confidence back on the pitch and off the pitch, I think it's important on both sides, and we're definitely ready for that."
The Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder worked with Capello at Real Madrid last season and has been impressed by his impact with England.
He added: "Obviously I had the pleasure of being in my last year at Real Madrid and having him as manager.
"I know what he is like as a manager and I know what he is like as a person. I know what the coaching staff and people he surrounds himself with are like.
"It is a very professional setup and it's a setup where he knows what he wants and he knows how to get it.
"He does it his way and it is working really well at the moment."
