Santa Cruz: Injury concerns

Blackburn Rovers' Roque Santa Cruz is doubtful for Saturday's fixture at Reading after he sustained an ankle injury on international duty.

Santa Cruz was forced to leave the field in the first half of Paraguay's 3-0 friendly defeat to South Africa on Wednesday.

He picked up the problem following a tackle from Rovers team-mate Aaron Mokoena, and now faces a fight to be fit for the weekend.

Santa Cruz has been in impressive form since he arrived at Ewood Park from Bayern Munich last summer, netting 14 Premier League goals so far this season.

Fellow striker Benni McCarthy, meanwhile, was on the scoresheet in South Africa's win and became the county's all-time leading goalscorer with his 30th goal in 70 appearances.
