Ameobi: Off to Stoke
Stoke City have signed Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi on loan for the rest of the season.
Ameobi has struggled for first-team opportunities at St James' Park this term and has failed to score in eight appearances.
He has not featured for the Magpies since the 3-0 defeat at Arsenal at the end of January and has been allowed to spend the closing weeks on loan at Stoke.
The Championship leaders had been determined to increase their attacking options as Tony Pulis looks to guide the Potters into the Premier League.
Pulis had been linked with a string of strikers, including Fulham duo Diomansy Kamara and David Healy, along with Portsmouth's David Nugent.
But the Stoke boss has been able to secure a deal for former England Under 21 international Ameobi, who could make his debut at Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend.
