Anelka: Has prior experience
Nicolas Anelka has warned his Chelsea team-mates that the atmosphere inside Fenerbahce's Sukru Saracoglu stadium for Wednesday night's UEFA Champions League quarter-final will be 'crazy'.
And the French striker should know, as he spent 18 months with Fenerbahce earlier in his career; an experience that left him in no doubt over the unique mentality of Turkish supporters.
Chelsea have been warned to expect an intimidating atmosphere on the night and it would appear their supporters have picked up on the vibe, given only 1,000 are expected to travel despite being handed a ticket allocation of 2,250.
A series of video messages were posted on the internet suggesting they will burn in hell and Anelka admits Chelsea can expect a hot reception when they arrive in Kadikoy - the area in Istanbul where Fenerbahce play.
"It's going to be crazy inside the stadium," he is quoted in The Times.
"We will have to be careful because they play good football, as well, and they have many good players.
"I'm not surprised they got this far, because when I was there two years ago, we were already strong and unlucky not to get through the group."
