Windass: Still a huge asset

Dean Windass has agreed a new contract at Hull City which could see him turn out for the club at the age of 41.

The evergreen striker has accepted improved terms to his present deal at the KC Stadium, which expires in the summer of 2009.

But the club have also included a one-year option and Hull chairman Paul Duffen feels Windass fully merits the new deal.

"Deano has been amazing," Duffen told the Hull Daily Mail. "He would run through brick walls for this club and he is quite capable of doing that.

Huge asset

"He is an amazing personality and a huge asset to the club on and off the pitch.

"He has been out there on merit and has been keeping younger men on the bench by banging in the goals.

"As long as he is capable of performing then I am happy for him to be a key part in our future.

"It's quite possible that he's got quite a lot left in his tank."

Windass, who turned 39 on Tuesday, has scored 10 goals in 32 Championship appearances this season as the Tigers push for promotion to the Premier League.
