Hyypia: Focused

Liverpool veteran Sami Hyypia is not letting the Reds' European exploits take his eye off the need to maintain their push in the Premier League.

The Reds drew 1-1 with Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday and entertain the Gunners in the quarter-final second leg clash at Anfield on Tuesday.

In between, they also play the Gunners at the Emirates on Saturday in the league and Hyypia believes the Reds have enough quality to contain their opponents again.

All this comes after the Reds beat Everton last Sunday to go five points clear in fourth for the last Champions League spot via the Premier League.

But he knows a loss to Arsenal coupled with an Everton victory over Derby on Sunday would see the Toffees right back in the hunt for fourth spot.

Not over

Hyypia, who could be rested for Saturday's game which will be shown live on Sky Sports 1 from 12 noon, said: "It's not over until 11th May (when Liverpool complete their league campaign with a trip to Tottenham).

"We need to make sure we get enough points to be in that fourth spot then."

Speaking of the victory over Everton, he added: "Of course it was sweet. I know what it means to all the fans, so now they are all happy.

"It was a fair result. We had the game under control. It's a pity we didn't score more than one goal but one goal is enough."

The derby day success was a fantastic way for the team to bounce back after the 3-0 defeat to bitter rivals Manchester United.

Great confidence

Hyypia added: "That defeat by United brought us down a little bit. But we knew how important it was to take a five-point lead over Everton, and we had great confidence.

"Now we have Arsenal again next. They are a brilliant team at keeping the ball and passing it.

"They have great movement and are very dangerous, but I think we have enough quality in our team to be confident of containing them again."
