Pompey celebrate at Wembley

Kanu dedicated Portsmouth's FA Cup semi-final victory over West Bromwich Albion to the club's fans.

34,000 Pompey supporters were at Wembley to see Kanu fire home against his former club and send the South Coast side into their first FA Cup final since 1939.

"We did it for the fans and we have to do it for them again and come back here and win the final," he told the club's official website.

"I'm very happy, because I didn't want to disappoint the fans. They were fantastic.

"West Brom played well in the first half, but we showed our ability after the break. We only won by one goal, but it was enough.

"The goal came early in the second half but it wasn't as if we were hanging on, because we had a lot chances to make it 2-0.

"It's great to be going to the final - when we got drawn away to Manchester United no-one thought we would get there. Now we have to win it."

James

David James, who has been the loser on two previous occasions in the cup final, is looking for better luck this time around.

"We've made it hard for ourselves in every round so far, but we've made it through to the final," he said.

"It was a tremendous effort by the lads to win on what was a great occasion.

"It's been an FA Cup this year where all the favourites have been getting knocked out, and we arguably struggled against West Brom. But we managed to do enough.

"I've been to two FA Cup finals and lost and this is chance to rectify that. And I'm confident enough in this side to believe we're good enough to win it."
