Martins: Happy at Newcastle
Obafemi Martins is looking forward to a bright future at St James' Park after Newcastle continued their resurgence with a 3-0 victory over Reading on Saturday.
The Magpies had not won under Kevin Keegan until the game against Fulham a fortnight ago, but they have now recorded three straight victories and scored nine goals in the process.
Martins has been repeatedly linked with a move away from Newcastle but he insists he is committed to the club.
He said: "Not only me, all the players want to stay next season. But we are not going to talk about next season now.
"We have five games left and we have to continue to play and win. It is possible to win all five games, so we will see what happens.
"We showed the fans how we can do it and we are very happy because if we continue to play like this, we will be at the top, never mind the bottom.
"We just need to continue to play well in the last five games."
Martins has combined well with Michael Owen and Mark Viduka in a three-pronged strikeforce in recent weeks and he admits he is enjoying the attacking brand of football encouraged by Keegan.
"We are playing together very, very well. We have been training hard to play together, so we are happy.
"We are pleased to score beautiful goals - and if we continue to play like that, we will score more goals."
