Healy: Back among the goals
David Healy insists that he has no desire to leave Fulham despite a frustrating season on the sidelines.
The Northern Ireland striker has been unable to transfer his prolific form on the international stage into the domestic arena, and has found himself warming a lot of benches as a result.
He has made just 14 starts for the Cottagers in all competitions this season, with exactly the same number of appearances coming as a substitute.
Despite his own personal woes, he has reiterated his allegiance to the Fulham cause and will be doing his utmost to ensure that the club maintain their top-flight status over the coming weeks.
"I'm as committed as anyone at the club," Healy told the club's official website.
"It's disappointing the amount of games that I have played.
"I'm as disappointed as anyone who's not in the squad or not playing. But it's not up to me.
"I've got to wait for my opportunity to come and hopefully impress the manager.
"When you're playing and not scoring people are looking for other options and other players to play.
"I think that's what happened earlier in the season when I wasn't playing very well and scoring goals.
"You see it happen all the time in football, especially with strikers. They rotate more than defenders or midfielders.
"But everyone wants to play and score goals and I want to be part of this, whatever the future is. Hopefully the future is bright."
Healy was on target during the disappointing weekend defeat to Sunderland, and his manager admits that his spectacular curling effort during the 3-1 reverse has pushed him into his plans for the crunch trip to Reading on Saturday.
"It was a wonder goal," said Roy Hodgson.
"He did very, very well and I think he's been playing well in training.
"He's really accepted not being in the team very well. I've been very impressed by his professionalism.
"Certainly we haven't had that many goals scored and that many players pushing themselves in front of me saying 'use me, I'm your goalscorer'.
"His shares have risen enormously in value with that wonder goal and the fact he almost scored with a header late on in the game."
