Ashley Cole has admitted a number of Chelsea players were downcast following their performance against Fenerbahce.

The Blues booked their place in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League with a hard-fought 2-0 win over the Turks on Tuesday night to progress 3-2 on aggregate.

Despite the success there was not much cheer among the Chelsea players after a below-par performance at Stamford Bridge.

England defender Cole conceded it was not a good day at the office for Chelsea, as they kept alive their hopes of completing a Premier League and Champions League double.

"A lot of the players in there are disappointed," Cole told the Daily Star.

"We look at the performance, it was a bad one."
