Martins: Going nowhere

Obafemi Martins has snubbed overtures from other clubs to pledge his future to Newcastle.

A number of clubs across Europe are believed to have expressed an interest in signing the former Internazionale ace in the summer.

The likes of Arsenal and Milan have been credited with an interest in the Nigerian international who joined Newcastle in 2006 from Internazionale.

Martins' future at St James' Park looked uncertain earlier in the season when he struggled to claim a regular place under Sam Allardyce, but the 23-year-old is now back in favour under Kevin keegan.

The player's representative Chris Nathaniel claims a host of clubs are keen on Martins, but that the African wants to stay on Tyneside.

"Several top clubs have made contact but Obafemi hasn't indicated an interest in any of them and he has no intention of quitting the club," Nathaniel told The Sun.

The news will come as a boost to Keegan as he looks to keep his top stars for an improved campaign next season.
