Davies is booked
Kevin Davies was left 'devastated' after picking up a booking that rules him out of Bolton's next two games.
The Trotters ace was the hero for Bolton at the weekend as he scored the only goal of the game in their 1-0 win over West Ham.
But with 20 minutes remaining Davies was booked - his tenth yellow of the campaign - which results in an automatic two-match suspension, ruling him out of the forthcoming matches with Middlesbrough and Tottenham.
"It was a harsh booking, I'm devastated by it. I played the ball and was getting up when he pulled out the card," bemoaned Davies.
"But someone else can step in and be the hero."
Bolton's win at the weekend put them to within two points of safety and Davies is confident they will survive.
"It's like we've set up the Great Escape after a difficult season. We showed a lot of spirit and togetherness. We got back to being a team," he said.
"We could have rolled over, but every game we go into we look to win. It's just not been happening for us but I think we have a good chance of getting points.
"It's given everyone a massive lift. The result has reeled the other two teams in. If we'd not won and they had it would have been a seven-point gap. Now everyone's buzzing around."
Skipper Kevin Nolan echoed Davies' thoughts and said: "We're obviously relieved to get the win we were desperate for and delighted because we played well and deserved it.
"Now, we've got four games left and, if we win four, we'll be safe. It's as simple as that.
"It's life or death now. None of us want to go down and you saw that in this performance.
"We've gone through a tough patch and, hopefully, this is the turning point.
"We play a couple of teams who are around mid-table who haven't got much to play for. I hope we can take advantage because we have everything to play for."
