Young: Nominated for top award
Ashley Young is adamant that a strong finish to the season could still see Aston Villa snatch fifth place in the Premier League.
Villa currently sit six points behind the current occupants of the Uefa Cup spot, Everton, but travel to Goodison Park for a showdown with the Toffees on 27th April.
They must first negotiate a tricky local derby with neighbours Birmingham on Sunday, but having scored 10 without reply in their last two matches England international Young is confident that they can keep their recent run going.
"We have never said that we couldn't do it (finish fifth)," he told Villa's official website.
"We went through a bad spell but that is gone now. You can see over the last two games that everybody is playing with confidence.
"You just have to look at the last two games and how well we have played and how we look a threat every time we go forward, like we have all season.
"We're definitely looking forward to Sunday. It is always nice going into a game on the back of a win.
"It is another tough game, we just have to go out there and be positive and impose ourselves on the game.
"It doesn't matter who scores or sets them up as long as we get the three points."
After a number of impressive displays this season, Young has been nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year alongside his club team-mate Gabriel Agbonlahor.
He admits that he is honoured to be in contention for the award, but insists that he will not let the compliments he has received of late distract him from helping Villa pick up as many points as possible in the coming weeks.
"I was very pleased with the nomination," he said.
"It is voted for by the players so it is massive for me. Of course it is nice. Gabby has also done well all season.
"But I'm concentrating on things on the field. I'm just looking for Villa to get three points for every game we've got, so we can go for that fifth spot.
"Hopefully we will win every game."
