Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry has again vowed to continue with his role at Anfield in the wake of Tom Hicks' latest broadside.

The American co-owner branded Parry's tenure at the Premier League club as a 'disaster' in a wide-ranging and scathing exclusive interview with Sky Sports News.

But the club's chief executive refused to be drawn into the mud-slinging and insists he is simply focusing his attention on the day-to-day running of the club.

Rafa Benitez's men have their UEFA Champions League semi-final against Chelsea on the horizon and are still battling to secure fourth place in the Premier League.

Turmoil

And Parry told Radio Four: "It's for the board to ask me to resign and they haven't. I'm accountable to the board and this is not something the board has discussed with me.

"I have a duty at the moment to try and keep things on an even keel when there's turmoil off the pitch. I just want to do my best for the club.

"I'm focusing on the day to day. We have a Champions League semi-final coming up. There are a lot of important things to be done at the club and that's the focus."

Parry again expressed his disappointment that the club's affairs were being discussed in the public domain.

He added: "There's a Liverpool way, which I think I understand and will stick to, and there is clearly a different way."
