Stoke midfielder Liam Lawrence admits the home clash with promotion rivals Bristol City this weekend is the club's most important game in over 20 years.

Just a point separates the sides ahead of the Britannia Stadium clash and victory for either team could prove crucial in the battle to secure automatic promotion.

Former Sunderland star Lawrence has now called on the club's fans to turn out in force and get behind the Potters ahead of the vital clash, which can be seen live on Sky Sports 1.

"I think it's the biggest game Stoke have had for about 23 years since they

last went up, and definitely the biggest this season," said Lawrence.

"If we can get three points it would leave us in a fantastic position with just a few weeks to go.

"It's the biggest occasion this club and the city will see for a long, long time and we need the fans to be here getting right behind us."
