Roberts: Bitter disappointment

Jason Roberts has revealed his disappointment after Blackburn threw away two points against Manchester United on Saturday.

Rovers looked on course to keep their slim European dreams alive at Ewood Park until Carlos Tevez grabbed a dramatic leveller for the visitors with just two minutes remaining.

The point ensured that United remain firm favourites to take the Premier League title, while Blackburn now look likely to miss out on an Intertoto Cup place.

Roberts admits that Mark Hughes' squad felt deflated after the game, despite pushing the league leaders all the way.

Quiet

"I haven't felt this disappointed after a football match for a long time," said the striker in the Daily Star.

"I have never beaten United in all the time I've been playing and this was a great opportunity to have done that.

"It was a quiet dressing room because we know that we have missed a great opportunity.

"Maybe the performance was a measure of how far we have come, but it is a bitter disappointment.

Deserved

"One of the reasons why United are where they are is that they will always keep going, with quality and wave after wave of attack.

"But to give it away to a set-piece! We know we should have seen the game out.

"I think United will go and win the title now. I think they are the best team so they deserve to do it."
