Davies: Set to return

Bolton striker Kevin Davies is set to play in the Trotters' crucial game against Sunderland on Saturday - despite recently suffering a broken hand.

The powerful front-man has been suspended for the last two games after scoring the winner against West Ham at the Reebok on 12th April.

That goal fired Bolton onto a three-match unbeaten run which has seen them take seven points to lift themselves out of the relegation zone.

He incurred his 10th booking of the season in that game and broke his hand but is now set to return against the Black Cats at the Reebok on Saturday.

Important member

Bolton boss Gary Megson said: "Kevin is an important member of the squad and, more so, the team.

"But a lot was made of the fact Kevin was suspended from the two games, and he had broken his hand anyway.

"He played ever so well in his last game, West Ham, but in the period where the pundits would tell you we were going to really struggle because Kevin was not there, we took four points away from home, which we hadn't done all season.

"So a lot of people have rolled their sleeves up and taken over the mantle from Kevin - but it will be nice to have him back."

Play regardless

He added: "He's been training for the last three or four days and his hand seems fine, but it was always going to be.

"He'll play regardless."

While Davies is set to return, midfield pair Joey O'Brien and Ivan Campo are doubtful for the match with hamstring and calf injuries respectively.
