Grant: Cole backing
Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole believes Avram Grant has done a 'great job' since taking over at Stamford Bridge.
Grant has come in for much criticism since he succeeded former Blues boss Jose Mourinho at the helm last September.
However, the Israeli has steadily proved his critics wrong after guiding Chelsea to the UEFA Champions League final and remaining on the heels of Premier League leaders Manchester United in the race for the title.
And while Cole admits Mourinho's record and flamboyant persona meant Grant had a tough act to follow, the England international has saluted his handling of the club since he took the Stamford Bridge reins.
"The manager has had a tough time, as would anyone coming to replace Jose Mourinho, who was such a great favourite with the fans and everyone around the club," he told The People.
"But he's done a great job. Managers are judged on results and where we are at this point in the League and the Champions League is incredible for the manager, the staff and the players.
"I think the fans will sing Avram's name in time. It's all about silverware and if we deliver the European Cup, the Premier League trophy or maybe both, it could be the biggest year we have ever had at this club, and they'll show their appreciation."
