Albelda: Dropped legal case
David Albelda has withdrawn his lawsuit against Valencia after his situation returned to normality with the change of board and coach at the club.
The Spanish international midfielder looked to force his way out of the club via the courts after being ostracised under Ronald Koeman, along with Santi Canizares and Miguel Angel Angulo.
In a bid to win a free transfer and compensation, Albelda looked to take his case in front of a judge having already failed with one motion.
After Koeman was sacked as coach and Juan Soler stepped down as president at the Mestalla, Albelda did not immediately withdraw his case and that did not go down well with the club's fans.
Despite being jeered in his appearances since being reinstalled in the squad by new boss Salvador Gonzalez 'Voro', the 30-year-old weighed up his options before announcing that the case had been dropped.
"Albelda's desire has always been to reach and agreement and to play again for Valencia this season," the player's lawyer, Francisco Guillen stated.
"The case was never against Valencia CF, but against the harmful and unwarranted decision made against Albelda that cast a shadow over his professionalism."
Albelda is still set to leave the club in the summer after new sporting director Juan Sanchez recently hinted that he would be offloaded.
Juande Ramos is still keen on taking him to White Hart Lane to form a new look Tottenham midfield, but any move would rest on how much Valencia would demand for a player whose buy-out clause is €60m.
