Derby midfielder Robbie Savage is hoping former club Blackburn Rovers can relegate Birmingham City on Sunday.

Savage fell out with Blues over his acrimonious switch to Rovers in 2005 after being a firm fans' favourite with the club's supporters.

The former Wales international has now demonstrated again there is no love lost for his former colleagues who are currently locked in a relegation battle.

Fate

Savage, who remains close friends with Rovers midfielder David Dunn, is hoping the Ewood Park outfit can make his day by sealing Blues' fate this weekend.

He told the Sun: "I talked to Dunny earlier in the season and he said: 'Just imagine if we go to Birmingham on the last day and we put them down.'

"I'm not there now but Dunny still is and it could happen. If it did it would be an amazing fairytale.

"I'd love to see Blackburn back in Europe again. It would be great for the club."

I think it's shocking how he is really willing them to go down. I'm sure they paid him reasonably well and gave him premier league football. He blatantly used them as a stepping stone towards a bigger team...like Blackburn. I don't think he is the most talented player and he is dirty, I'm glad to see the back of him in the Premier League, providing he doesn't think he is too big for Derby and move again!

Savage is one of those players who you love when he's playing for you but if I was a Brum fan I'd find his comments a bit infantile. It also gives them an extra incentive to stuff us which isn't ideal!

If it's so much of a 'fairytale' for him, I wouldn't be surprised if he held something back in the Derby - Reading game just to ensure the relegation of Birmingham. He's that pathetic.

I would be more disappointed if it was David Dunn who has said he wants us to go down considering he was on the treatment table more than he was on the pitch during his time at the blues. As for Savage he has always got something to say about us he is now forgotten at blues we don¿t care about him anymore he hasn¿t exactly done the business at derby has he!

It's a free country, Robbie can say what he wants, he obviously didn't get on well with Birmingham so he will want to play them next season to prove a point.

Savage is an idiot but he does make me laugh. He wants us to go down but his own team manager said that they are going do everything they can to beat Reading which would do us a favour so he can say what he wants. If anything he is just firing the Blues up. There¿s nothing he can do to make Blackburn win. He just wants to come back to St Andrews next season that¿s all because he likes the stick he gets. Come on Blues!!!

Has Savage's poor form affected his mentality? Birmingham relegating is absolutely none of his business. It would prove to be a disappointment if they really get relegated. Zarate has been a great asset to the club since his arrival, and I'm really hoping to see more from him in the English top flight.

Let Robbie say what he wants, very few people care. And after next season, when he proves he's a poor to average Championship player, he probably won't get the tabloid and TV space he gets now. Let him boost his own ego by getting on TV and in the papers with his big gob for now, he'll be gone soon!!
