Roy Keane was pleased with his side's performance against third-placed Arsenal, but felt their lack of finishing power proved costly.

The Sunderland boss felt Arsenal only had one clear-cut chance - which was the Theo Walcott effort which proved the only goal of the game - whereas the Black Cats had two or three opportunities.

"I enjoyed today, I thought we played very well today, we had some great chances," he told Sky Sports.

"If I've said it once, I've said it a number of times if you get chances, especially against the big clubs, you've got to take them. I think Arsenal had one good clear-cut chance and they took it, we had two or three great chances and we didn't take them.

"We paid for that, but overall I thought the performance was quite good today," he added.

Winner

Walcott's 24th minute winner was enough to see the Gunners claim the win and means Sunderland have failed to pick up points against the top four clubs.

But the boss is keen to improve on that statistic in time for the new campaign and remains happy with Sunderland's survival season.

He said: "I suppose overall we have to be fairly satisfied, it's been a tough season for us and at the start of the season our first priority was to stay in the Premiership - we've done that.

"We've got a busy summer to try and improve the squad but also with the folks and the players we've got at the club, we've done a great job.

"We'll hopefully come back stronger and wiser for the experience in the Premiership."

With Manchester United claiming the title after a 2-0 win over Wigan, the former Red Devils midfielder was also happy for his old club.

Keane added: "I'm delighted for them, it's a top club and I'm delighted for the players and supporters. I'm sure there will be good celebrations over Manchester over the next few weeks."
