Wycombe manager Paul Lambert has revealed he is considering his future at the club in the wake of their League Two play-off semi-final defeat at Stockport.

County won 1-0 at Edgeley Park courtesy of Liam Dickinson's outstanding individual goal in the seventh minute, which sealed a 2-1 aggregate win to allow the home side to set up a Wembley meeting with Rochdale.

And former Celtic midfielder Lambert insisted the uncertainty surrounding his position was purely down to football reasons and not the fact his wife still lives in Scotland.

"It has honestly got nothing to do with my wife living in Scotland," said Lambert.

"It's to do with football and I'll make a decision on those terms.

No luck

"The disappointment with the game outweighs anybody's individual thoughts."

Asked whether he would begin next season at Adams Park, Lambert replied: "I can't say. I'll have to wait and see in the next couple of days."

Lambert felt that his side did not get the rub of the second leg green and refused to blame his players

"I know you need a little luck in football sometimes," Lambert added on Sky Sports.

Strong

"But we came up and played really strongly and we looked as though we were going to get something.

"Credit to Stockport, they defended really strongly.

"The players gave me everything, which is all I could ask for. They've been great and I cannot criticise them or fault them for their effort.

"The fans were brilliant as well and they have been all season."
