Redknapp: Not leaving

Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has moved to quell the lingering rumours over his future.

Redknapp guided Pompey to their first FA Cup trophy in 69 years as his men downed Cardiff City 1-0 at Wembley on Saturday.

Reports in the press claimed that Redknapp could part company with the Fratton Park club after the final had taken place.

But Redknapp has disregarded the claims outright, insisting there is 'no way' he would walk out on the side he rejoined in 2005.

"There's no way I'm going to pack up. It's never entered my mind," Redknapp said.

"I don't know what I would do without football and there's no way I am going to walk away from Portsmouth again. I've done that once and we all know what happened.

"We are in Europe and I need one or two players to improve the squad.

"I don't know why people think I might be retiring. I love working here, love my job and football is all I know."

Nigeria tour

Redknapp also revealed that Portsmouth will embark on a pre-season tour of Nigeria and have a dress rehearsal of their FA Community Shield clash with a match against Premier League champions Manchester United.

"I haven't told them yet but we will be going to Nigeria pre-season," Redknapp said. "I don't know if it's going to be a pleasant surprise for them but I think everybody enjoyed Hong Kong last year.

"We are going to play Manchester United out there (Nigeria). Apparently they want us out there and the thinking was that if it is good for Manchester United then it's certainly good for us.

"Then we come back and play United again at Wembley in the Community Shield and we're looking forward to that - but personally my only plan is for a holiday with my wife.

"I don't think I'll be going to the European Championship this time but there are some interesting matches and maybe I'll take in one or two."
