Rangers defender Christian Dailly spoke of his devastation after the team lost 2-0 at Aberdeen to concede the SPL crown to Celtic.

The Glasgow rivals began the day on level points with all to play for but Celtic beat Dundee United 1-0 and Rangers lost to the Dons to hand the Hoops the title.

Just last Wednesday, Rangers had been chasing a historic quadruple but their hopes have now been dashed firstly with defeat in the Uefa Cup final and now in the SPL.

They now play Queen of the South in the Scottish Cup on Saturday trying to add this silverware to their victory in the CIS Insurance Cup earlier this term.

Dailly told the club's official website they must pick themselves up and focus on Saturday's final.

Major lows

He said: "There have been so many highs this season but there have been two major lows in the last week with tonight's game and the Uefa Cup final last week.

"We are devastated. It was always a danger the way it was all structured. I think it proved too much for us.

"We did everything we could. The supporters were brilliant and they did their best to push us on but we couldn't get there.

"It's been a massive schedule for us but we got on with it as best we could. We can play every day but the problem is we have to win every day and the level was so high for us.

"We just have to recover now and get into the Scottish Cup final. We don't have time to feel sorry for ourselves.

"It's a huge game for us and everyone in this squad had the mentality and gave it their best."
