Capello: Backed by duo

England international duo Owen Hargreaves and Peter Crouch are backing Fabio Capello to succeed as Three Lions boss given time.

Capello took charge of the national side for just the third time on Wednesday against USA at Wembley.

The Italian tactician took his record to two wins and one defeat following their 2-0 friendly success over USA thanks to goals from John Terry and Steven Gerrard.

Although some want instant success from Capello, Hargreaves believes it will take some time for him to establish which combination of players works best together.

Best fit

"The manager is trying to find out how the team fits best," said the Manchester United midfielder, who made his Wembley debut on Wednesday.

"Everyone always asks how come we have such great players yet we haven't made such a fabulous team with them?

"It's a fair question and the manager has the experience to answer that. We have all the pieces to the puzzle, he just has to make them fit."

Crouch echoed Hargreaves' comments, by stating it will take time for Capello, who is also learning the English language, to get his feet under the table.

Time

"It's going to take time. The manager is still trying to find the right formation by changing players and the way we play," Crouch said.

"It's all a case of getting it right for the main objective, which is qualifying for major tournaments.

"He's a top manager. He's getting his point across to the players and that's starting to come across now.

"Of course it will take time but we showed last night that his ideas are starting to take shape. He communicates well and we all understand him."
