Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has made an enquiry for Sheffield United striker Danny Webber.

Warnock signed Webber in 2005 during his time as Blades boss and is keen to work with the 26-year-old again.

Webber twice came close to joining Palace last season after failing to feature for the Blades since the start of December.

He has yet to discuss a move to the Eagles, but Warnock has confirmed he has registered an interest with his former club.

"We've enquired about Danny, he is one of a number of players we've spoken about," Warnock told the Croydon Advertiser.

"But I stress it's only early discussions, we've not spoken to Danny yet, we've just made an enquiry to the club."

Webber has scored a total of 20 goals in 84 appearances for the Blades after originally joining on loan from Watford.
