Robins won't go for Eastwood

Johnson aiming to sign two or three players

Bristol City boss Gary Johnson insists Freddy Eastwood is not on his list of targets as he looks to sign 'two or three' players.

Johnson is keen to mount another bid for promotion next season after the Robins lost to Hull City in the Championship play-off final last weekend.

Wolves striker Eastwood has been linked with a move to Ashton Gate after being told he will be allowed to leave Molineux over the summer.

Eastwood, who is interesting Coventry City, has struggled to make an impact with Wolves and started just 10 games in the Championship last season.

However, Johnson has rejected rumours he wants to sign the former Southend United forward as he tries to improve his squad.

Danger

"I do have two or three targets and I'll be working with the chairman (Steve Lansdown) to try and bring those players to the club during the close season," Johnson told the Bristol Evening Post.

"Our rivals have been talking to players since the beginning of May, whereas because we've been involved in the play-offs we've had to sit and wait.

"The danger is that you get left behind and miss out on the players you want, so it's important we don't allow that to happen.

"However, there is nothing doing with Freddy Eastwood from our point of view."
