Cech: Confident

Petr Cech believes Czech Republic are capable of winning Euro 2008, but admits he and his team-mates will need luck on their side.

Czech Republic have been drawn in Group A and open the tournament on 7th June against hosts Switzerland before facing Portugal and Turkey.

And goalkeeper Cech is confident that Czech Republic, who reached the final in 1996 and semi-finals in 2004, will progress from their group, but accepts fortune is a vital factor in the knock-out stages.

"Our objective is to advance from the group," Cech said in Blesk.

Dark horses

"In my opinion, we will go through, but it will not be easy. In the knock-out stages it is luck and details that will decide.

"A team can produce the best performance of their career and be knocked out in the same moment."

Cech also believes Czech Republic can upset the likes of Germany, Spain, Italy and France, who are ranked as favourites in Austria and Switzerland.

"We can be the dark horses of the tournament," Cech added.

"In Euro 2008 qualification we beat Germany in Munich. The victory boosted our confidence. Maybe it is crazy but I think we can win the tournament."
